How To Celebrate Your 60th Birthday: Party Ideas

How To Celebrate Your 60th Birthday: Party Ideas

With each passing year, we finish one book and start another. When we celebrate our birthdays, we can think about the amazing things that happened to us last year and look forward to the new and exciting things that will happen to us in the coming year. Chapter 60 marks the start of a new, exciting adventure with lots of chances and discoveries. Even though each chapter is important in its own way, this one marks the start of an exciting new journey.

But how do you make a 60th birthday party more memorable than the 59 before it?

1. Drinks, Dinner, and Dancing

Drinks, dinner, and dancing

You can swing into the 1960s in style with a night of cocktails, good food, and cha-cha (or your own dance style, if you have one). Invite people to come dressed for a cocktail party, or throw a party with a roaring 20s theme and have people wear flapper dresses and dapper suits. Either choice will make the gathering more interesting.

2. Beer, Wine, and Snacks

For a more personal way to celebrate a special person's 60th birthday, throw them an unofficial party with simple drinks and tasty appetisers. This big achievement can be celebrated with a party at a favourite restaurant, an art gallery, or even a public park nearby.

3. Daytime Party

Celebrate turning 60 by having a party outside with a barbecue, alcoholic drinks, and other things to do. And if you plan the party in a big backyard or a nearby park, there will be plenty of space for people to talk, hang out, and, well, party. That means you don't have to limit your list of guests or make any hard decisions!

4. A Celebratory Cruise

If you live near a port and your 60th birthday is coming up, you might want to go on a cruise to celebrate. Your guests will be able to eat, drink, and listen to live music while taking in the ocean air and getting some sun (or stars, or glowing sunset).

5. Private Concert

Private Concert

You could help a loved one celebrate their 60th birthday by dancing, shimmying, and spinning in their own backyard. Hire a local band that you know your guest of honor will like, or choose a band that can play both their favourite songs and some of the best songs of all time. It will definitely set the mood (and the music) for your loved one's 60th year.

6. A Surprise Party

A surprise party

Even if the birthday star has been around for sixty years and has a lot of experience, that doesn't mean they will be able to plan a surprise party for themselves when they turn sixty. Your guest of honor's birthday expectations will be completely shattered if you surprise them by inviting all of their closest friends and family members to a dinner they think will be a private party for them.
